SEO packages run from about $500 a month to $9,200 a month at agencies that print their tiers, and the average agency retainer is $3,209 a month (Ahrefs survey). Ziwi's local SEO packages are $297 Essentials, $597 Local SEO and $997 Local SEO Plus, per month per location, month to month.

Google charges nothing to appear in its organic results, so the cost of SEO is the work someone does to earn the position. Published SEO packages run from $500 a month at the entry level to $9,200 a month at the top of WebFX's printed tiers, and the most common retainer among the SEO providers Ahrefs polled is $501 to $1,000 a month.
The same survey puts the average agency retainer at $3,209 a month, against $1,348 for freelancers. The table names each source so you can open it and check the date.
| Source | What is published | Price |
|---|---|---|
| WebFX, SEO pricing page (checked September 2026) | Typical monthly retainer | $1,000 to $5,000 a month |
| WebFX, SEO pricing page (checked September 2026) | Project work | $500 to $5,000 a project |
| WebFX, SEO pricing page (checked September 2026) | Hourly consulting | $75 to $200 an hour |
| Thrive, SEO pricing page (checked September 2026) | Small business SEO | Starting at $500 a month |
| Thrive, SEO pricing page (checked September 2026) | Local SEO | $500 to $1,500 a month |
| Ahrefs, SEO pricing survey of 439 providers (updated August 15, 2024) | Most common monthly retainer | $501 to $1,000 a month |
| Ahrefs, same survey | Average monthly retainer, agencies and freelancers | $3,209 and $1,348 a month |
| Ahrefs, same survey | Most common project fee at agencies | $2,501 to $5,000 |
The spread is wide because "SEO package" covers everything from a freelancer fixing page titles to a team producing two dozen content pieces a month. The survey is from 2024 and the agency pages were checked in September 2026, so treat the table as the shape of the market rather than a quote.
Tiers are usually the same work at a higher volume: more keyphrases tracked, more pages optimized and more content or links each month. WebFX prints every tier, from Silver at $2,900 a month to Diamond at $9,200, and its packages scale exactly that way, with technical SEO in all of them.
| WebFX tier | First two months | Then, a month | What scales |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | $5,900 | $2,900 | Up to 150 keyphrases, 30 pages optimized, 6 content or outreach assets |
| Gold | $9,150 | $6,150 | Up to 200 keyphrases, 40 pages optimized, 12 content assets |
| Platinum | $10,400 | $7,400 | Up to 250 keyphrases, 50 pages optimized, 15 content assets |
| Diamond | $12,200 | $9,200 | Up to 300 keyphrases, 60 pages optimized, 24 content assets |
Between Silver and Diamond the work does not change kind, it changes volume: twice the pages optimized and four times the content assets for a little over three times the monthly price.
That is also why a local business with one service area rarely needs the upper ones. The rest of what WebFX publishes, commitment terms included, is in WebFX pricing, explained.

A package is worth paying for, at $297 or at $2,900 a month, when it includes five things: technical fixes, pages built for the searches that bring work, Google Business Profile work, links from real sites, and a monthly report that shows calls and forms, not only rankings. If one of the five is missing, you are buying part of the job and still owning the rest.
Technical fixes. Speed, indexing, broken pages and structured data, found in an audit and then actually fixed, not just listed in a PDF.
Pages that rank. A page for each service and each town you want work from, written for the person searching rather than for a keyword list.
Google Business Profile work. For a local business the map listing is a second storefront, so it needs regular posts, photos, correct categories and review replies.
Links. Mentions from local and industry sites that a real person would click, not a bulk directory blast.
A report with leads in it. Calls and forms from search each month, so the fee can be judged against the work that came in.

Ziwi publishes three local SEO packages, priced per location and month to month: Local SEO Essentials at $297 a month, Local SEO at $597 and Local SEO Plus at $997. What each package includes is quoted from the Ziwi pricing page.
| Package | Price per month, per location | What it includes, as published |
|---|---|---|
| Local SEO Essentials | $297 | Google Business Profile posted weekly, citations, on-page fixes with schema markup, AI search optimization, review-ask setup, two new pages or posts a month, rank tracking, monthly report. |
| Local SEO | $597 | Everything in Essentials, with content stepped up to two new pages or posts a week, plus service-line pages and local link outreach. |
| Local SEO Plus | $997 | For competitive markets: everything in Local SEO, including two new pages or posts a week, plus a link and digital-PR program, landing pages per service and area, quarterly strategy review. |
Set those against the five-part test. Essentials covers on-page fixes, the Google Business Profile and a monthly report, with two new pages or posts a month, and call tracking is included in every Ziwi plan so the report can show calls. Local SEO steps content up to two new pages or posts a week and adds local link outreach. Plus keeps the two a week and adds a digital-PR program for markets where competitors are already doing all of that.
Ziwi's top package, Local SEO Plus at $997 a month, costs about a third of WebFX's entry Silver tier at $2,900 a month, and Essentials at $297 sits below the $500 starting price Thrive publishes. The scale is different, though: WebFX's tiers are built for sites chasing up to 300 keyphrases, and Ziwi's are built around one location's map listing, service pages and town pages.
| Line item | Market, as published | Ziwi, published |
|---|---|---|
| Entry package | From $500 a month (Thrive); $2,900 a month after $5,900 for the first two months (WebFX Silver) | $297 Local SEO Essentials |
| Typical agency retainer | $3,209 a month on average (Ahrefs survey, 2024) | $597 Local SEO |
| Top printed tier | $9,200 a month (WebFX Diamond) | $997 Local SEO Plus |
| Local SEO specifically | $500 to $1,500 a month (Thrive) | $297 to $997 a month per location |
| Contract | Varies by agency; ask before signing | Month to month |
A cheaper package is not automatically better value: what matters is what arrives each month, and whether you can check it. Every Ziwi rate is on the pricing page, and the market figures above are dated so you can see how fresh they are.
The first red flag is a package that promises a ranking position, because no agency controls Google's organic results at $500 a month or at $9,200. The second is a package you cannot see inside: a monthly price with no count of pages, posts or links attached to it.
The package worth buying is the one where you can name what arrives each month and see calls come back from it. More warning signs are collected in marketing agency red flags. For the monthly cost question on its own, read local SEO pricing, and to see the three packages in full, with what happens in month one, go to Ziwi's local SEO service.
