The listing that decides who gets the call.

Google Business Profile is the free listing that puts a business in Google Maps and the local three-pack. Managing it means categories, services, photos, weekly posts, questions and review replies, kept current all year. Ziwi runs it inside Local SEO Essentials at $297 a month per location.

Where it leaks

Where do businesses lose here?

01The wrong primary category

Your primary category tells Google which searches you belong in, and most profiles pick the broadest one available. A practice listed only as Dentist competes for everything and wins nothing; the same practice with the right primary and the implant service written out competes for the work that actually pays.

02A profile that went quiet

A listing with two-year-old photos, no posts and three unanswered questions reads as closed to a buyer and stale to Google. The businesses sitting above you in the map pack posted this week.

03Reviews nobody replied to

Half the value of a review is the reply underneath it. An unanswered one-star review is often the first thing a buyer reads, and a profile with no replies looks like nobody is home.

The explainer

What Google Business Profile management actually is

Why it matters: the map pack sits above the regular results, and the top three listings take most of the calls. Your profile is the only thing in that block you control directly, for free. It is also the first place a buyer checks after seeing your ad or your website, which means a thin profile quietly loses you customers who had already decided to look you up.

Google Business Profile is what used to be called Google My Business. Google renamed it in 2021 and retired the standalone app in 2022, so the profile is now edited straight from Google Search and Maps while signed in as the owner. About 590 people a month search google my business optimization and another 590 search google business profile management (our September 2026 pull), which is why both names show up on this page.

Setup and management are different jobs. Setup happens once: claim the listing, verify it, set categories and hours, write the services, load a first batch of photos. Management is the part that moves the needle, and it is weekly: a post, questions seeded and answered, every new review replied to, photos added as jobs finish, holiday hours set before the holiday, and the business name, address and phone kept identical everywhere else online so Google keeps trusting the listing.

Setup
Claim, verify, categories, hours, services, first photos. Available as a one-time add-on on the pricing page if that is all you need.
Management
The weekly work: posts, questions, review replies, photos, hours and listing consistency. Inside Local SEO Essentials at $297 a month per location.
Suspensions and duplicates
A suspended or duplicated listing needs reinstatement work, not more posts. It comes first, because nothing else counts while the profile is dark.

A profile is one part of local SEO, not the whole of it, and the published prices page shows what each tier adds. The full breakdown of the monthly cost is in what local SEO costs, and the map pack decides the most in categories where buyers compare three listings before calling, like dental and med spa. What you get

Everything profile management includes

Run it standalone or wired into a plan. Either way, the accounts and the data are yours.

See published pricing

Categories, primary and secondary

One primary category chosen for the work you want more of, plus up to nine additional categories that widen what you can appear for.

Services and service areas

Every service you sell written out on the profile, with the towns you cover set so you show up where you actually work.

A post every week

Offers, finished jobs, seasonal work. Posts keep the listing active and give a buyer something current to read before they call.

Questions and answers

The Q and A section is public and anyone can answer it, including a competitor. We seed the real questions and answer them first.

Every review answered

Replies on the good and the bad, in your voice, inside one business day. Review asks run alongside on the reviews and reputation plan.

Photos and the blank fields

New photos as jobs finish, plus the fields most profiles leave empty: attributes, holiday hours, the description, the booking link.

Name, address and phone consistency

One exact business name, address and phone across the directories Google cross-checks, so nothing contradicts the listing.

Calls and clicks, tracked

We report the calls, website clicks and direction requests the profile produced, inside the same cost-per-booked-lead math as everything else.

The process

What happens in your first 30 days?

The profile is the fastest thing on any local SEO plan to move, so it goes first, in week one.

Week 1
Audit and access

We compare your profile against the three ranking above you, take manager access, fix the primary category, hours, services and description, and hunt for duplicate listings.

Week 2
Photos, services, listings

New photos go up, every service is written out, and your name, address and phone are corrected across the main directories.

Week 3
Posts, questions, reviews

Weekly posting starts, the real questions get seeded and answered, and every existing review gets a reply.

Week 4
Your first report

Calls, clicks and direction requests from the profile, what changed, and what is queued for month two.

$297 a month per location covers profile management inside Local SEO Essentials, along with citations kept consistent, on-page fixes, review asks, a content piece each quarter and a monthly report. Local SEO at $597 adds a new page or post every month and local link outreach. Local SEO Plus at $997 is for competitive markets, with up to four content pieces a month. All month to month. A one-time profile setup, if that is genuinely all you need, is an add-on on the pricing page.

$297 a month per location, inside Local SEO Essentials. That covers the weekly posts, categories and services, photos, questions, review replies and listing consistency, plus the rest of the Essentials work. Local SEO at $597 and Local SEO Plus at $997 add monthly content and link work on top. Month to month, no annual contract.

Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021 and retired the standalone app in 2022, so the listing is now managed from Google Search and Maps while signed in as the owner. About 590 people a month still search the old name (our September 2026 pull), which is why you see both used.

Profile changes often show inside 2 to 6 weeks, faster than the rest of local SEO, because Google recrawls the listing quickly. A wrong primary category fixed on Monday can change what you appear for within days. Nobody can promise a position: proximity to the searcher, review volume and the strength of the other listings in your map pack decide it.

No. Profile work is 1 of the 6 pieces inside Local SEO Essentials at $297 a month for a reason: Google cross-checks the listing against your website, your reviews and your citations before deciding who ranks. A perfect profile with a slow website, no service pages and no new reviews stalls near the edge of the map pack and stays there.

Only if it breaks Google's policies, which is why about 880 people a month search how to remove bad reviews from Google My Business (our September 2026 pull) and most of them do not get one taken down. Every review gets a reply inside one business day instead: the bad ones answered in public and worked in private, with a steady flow of new reviews doing the real repair on your rating.

Usually 1 of 4 causes: a business name stuffed with keywords, a virtual office or a home address that should have been hidden, a category that does not match what you actually do, or a burst of edits made at once. Reinstatement means fixing the cause and filing an appeal with proof of address, license and signage. The timeline on that is Google's, not ours, and we do the work before anything else, because the rest is wasted while the listing is down.
